Married to Joel Burkes for 47 years.
Children: Laurie, 45, Eaton, CO; Lisa, 39, Eaton, CO; David, 34, South Denver, CO;
Six Grandchildren.
WORK: First Job - Nurses Aide at Bryan Memorial Hospital; I worked as a nurse for about 20 years after graduating from St. Luke's School of Nursing in Denver as an RN. I worked at North Colorado Medical Center Hospital in Greeley, and in Dr's offices. We have owned the A & W Family Restaurant in Eaton, CO for 28 years and now our daughter is buying the restaurant from us. Retired in 1999. Continue to volunteer at church and in the community. Help our daughter who manages the A & W for past 6 years.Meals on Wheels for many years.
INTERESTS: Our children and grandchildren are the joy of our life and we enjoy fun times with each of them. We enjoy traveling and have been to Hawaii, Alaska, Scandinavia, England, France and traveled to most of our United States. We enjoy cruises and have taken several to the East and Western Caribbean.
About the 50's: We have enjoyed the nostalgia of the 50's and have had"Cruise Nites" at our A & W Restaurant for many years. We will have as many as 80 old cars including various car clubs attend on the third Thursdays, April through October each year. It is a great social event for our town of less than 5,000, located 10 miles north of Greeley, Colorado.
REFLECTIONS: I am very thankful for God's many blessings of family and friends and good health.
