Fred L Powell
Married to Maryann G. Powell for 39 years (will be 40 on October 22, 2006)
Children: Melinda (Mindy) Colton, Alison Gish Six Grandchildren: Zachary Colton, 9, Jake Colton, 7 and Amber Colton, 5, Rebecca Gish, 12, Benjamin Gish, 10, Daniel Gish.
WORK: I went right to U. of N. after high school while working at Engraving Lettering Templates;
During 3rd or 4th year in The College of Architecture I got a drafting job at Hazen & Robinson Architects in Lincoln; Moved to Los Angeles, California after college graduation and was a project designer at Alison & Rible Architects in Los Angeles; Worked as Project Architect at Jones & Emmons Architects in West L.A; Worked in Honolulu, HI - Married in?1966 & moved to Hawaii 1967-1969. Back to San Diego. Had own Architect Office for 17 years; Now work for Kevin Rugee Architect in Coronado, California, and on my own again.Wishing for retirement. Hopefully plan to retire. Finances not adequate to live reasonably well in San Diego yet.
Interests: Latest obsession is being with four grandsons and playing baseball. Also moved 3 1/2 years ago and remodeled our home. Now in middle of landscaping yard.
Life Changes: The most dramatic change to my life was in 1969 when Maryann and I both recommitted our lives to Jesus Christ and serving Him in all we do. We were in Honolulu, HI and had a beautiful outdoor waterfall garden body baptism.
Our Victories were (and are) to have our two daughters grow up, accept Jesus in their lives, marry two wonderful Christian men and so far 5 of 6 grandkids have asked Jesus into their lives. (our youngest granddaughter is only 4)
MISSES: The simplicity of life of the 50's. People were more moral, honest and thoughtful then. Too much drug, sex and lesbian/gay activism today. It's quite sad but God will win! He knows the future and we must trust Him and obey Him.
Reflections: To continue a bit with my thoughts - My hope and prayer is that all my classmates and families will come to the cross and accept God's free gift of everlasting life through His son, Jesus Christ. He loves us all and wants us to believe in Him. Believe in John 3:16. It's true!
