Jean (Garlinghouse) Witwer
Jean (Garlinghouse) Witwer
Married to John Witwer for 37 years.
Children: Rob Witwer, Golden, Colorado; Betsy Witwer Feiner, Norwalk, Connecticut; Grandchildren.
WORK: I'm a nurse. I've had a variety of jobs, including teaching nursing at the Universities of Washington and Oregon. Recently, I've been a legislative aide for my husband, John, who just finished serving in the Colorado Legislature. Now my son, Rob, is in the legislature, so we're all involved in politics. I continue to work - '99% of anything is just showing up.' Retire? "A man may work from sun to sun, but women's work is never done."
INTERESTS: My lifelong passion is my family. We go to dozens of political events in our community, county, and state. I'm still learning a lot.
Significant Events: My husband continues to be my lucky break. My favorite class at LHS was Miss Martin's English class. From Shakespeare through T. S. Eliot, this gifted teacher made literature a joy for me. The rampage of Charlie Starkweather was a big event! The thing I miss most about the 50's is jitterbugging. I'm grateful that I went to Lincoln High and had the chance to meet each of you. Party on!
REFLECTIONS: Despite the media, I know that there are many honest politicians in both parties who work hard to serve their constituents. (Maybe retirement would be a good time for some of you to run for office!) Thank you to all of you who have served your country, either in the military or in other ways.
