Dick and I celebrated our 46th anniversary on Valentine's Day. We met in Lincoln in June of 1955 when he was in the Air Force stationed at Lincoln.
Children: Debra Power, 42 , lives in Papillion, Nebraska with her husband Kevin and their two daughters. Deb is a RN and works in the Operating Room at the Medical Center; Rick Manthey, 38 , lives in Omaha with his wife Shirley and their four children. Rick is an Engineer and works as an Engineer Manager for HP.
WORK: After attending Nebraska Wesleyan University, I worked in many different places in many different states and on Okinawa, as I accompanied my husband with his travels in the Air Force. After he retired from the service with 21 years we settled in Bellevue, Nebraska. Dick worked for the Postal Service for 29 years before he retired again. He currently works part-time for the Bellevue Public Schools during the school year and has the summers off for fishing.
I retired from my last position in February of last year as a counselor for the Diet Center. I don't know how I found the time to work as I reflect over the past year.
INTERESTS:I have had a life long passion for art. I have painted with the same group of ladies every Wednesday for over 20 years. We paint, draw and solve the world's problems. One of the many highlights of my life was traveling to China with my painting friends. We had reserved our passage to Beijing nearly a year before we went. As it turned out we left for China only 8 days after 9-11-01. We had a great time in spite of the uneasiness we felt on the 13 hour flights to and from China. Another passion of mine is raising orchids. I enjoy especially "Cattleyas" and have the calendar marked for the next orchid show. We walk to keep fit and for enjoyment. We have walked a 13 mile (half marathon) in Lincoln and a 10 K in Omaha. We usually walk 4 miles a day when the weather permits walking on the trails, or 3 miles on the treadmill or in the gym.
Dick fishes Bass tournaments from spring to fall in all the surrounding states and I accompany him when I can. We recently purchased some lake front property and are looking forward to family gatherings there.
