Steve Girardot
Stephen L Girardot
Married to Connie Jones, LHS '56 for 47 years.
Children: David Girardot, 39, Kalispell, MT; Susan Girardot Owen, 36, Chico, CA
Seven Grandchildren.
WORK: First job, Geologist. After graduating from the University of Nebraska with my MS in geology in 1962, I went to work in West Texas as a geologist for what is now the Chevron Corporation. During my 34 years with the company, we lived in Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, and California. I retired in 1995 as Chief Geologist for Chevron U.S.A. and Connie and I moved to Montana and now live about 30 miles from the west entrance of Glacier National Park. We love our retired life in this beautiful area and being close to our son and grandchildren.
INTERESTS: Hiking, hunting, fishing, target shooting and gun collecting.
Significant Events: The best thing I did in my life was marrying Connie. The second best probably was joining Chevron, a company that valued their employees and treated them very well. For 34 years I enjoyed my work and only retired to move on to other things of interest. Our life has been a good one but not without sadness resulting from the deaths of two of our four children. It makes us appreciate what we have even more.
MISSES: The stability in our world and simplicity of our lives in those times .... and the cars!
REFLECTIONS: When I think about our lives it is hard to comprehend how fast they have flown by. I try to impress this on our children and grandchildren and tell them to enjoy each day as a special gift because before they know it someone will be sending them a 50-year reunion notice!
