Robert Gibson, 59, died Friday at Bryan Memorial Hospital of complications from a lung reduction and cardiac bypass surgery. "Bob Gibson had a very intricate legal mind," attorney John Stevens Barry said. "He was a true intellectual, known for his wit." Barry said Gibson also would be remembered for his compassion and "thirst for justice." Gibson joined the Lancaster County attorney?s office in 1969; he returned to private practice in 1980. In 1986, Gibson successfully represented a Lincoln woman in a malpractice lawsuit against another Lincoln attorney. The jury in the case awarded the woman $65,000. He also was attorney for a group of Commonweatlh Savings Co. depositors who lost money when the industrial loan and investment company failed. A Lincoln native, Gibson graduated from the University of Nebraska and attended the University Chicago College of Law. He returned to Lincoln after receiving his law degree in 1963.
Survivors include his wife, Pamela; son, Randall of Tucson, AZ.; daughters Rachel and Elayne of Lincoln and one granddaughter. Bob married Adele Keiser (LHS ?56) in 1960. Adele died from complications of multiple sclerosis February 5, 1983. They had a son, Russell. Bob married Pamela Sutton in 1990.
